Murray dismisses Federer early

Andrew Murray beat world number one Roger Federer in three sets in the first round at the Dubai Championship.

This was the first match for Federer since January and in his last match he lost to Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open and I expected him to be fresher than Murray who was playing during February and also won the Open 13 final in Marseille.

This was a rare first round loss for Federer who last lost in the first round nearly four years ago in August 2004.

I think that this defeat will put some pressure on Federer but he is also such an exceptional player that he can quickly recover and do what he normally does best and win tournaments.

Interestingly Murray himself lost in the first round in his last tournament before this one when he lost to Robin Haase in the opening round of the World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam.
